This weekend, I had a date.
A date with my Mom.
Aren’t we cute?
Our first stop was lunch at Tanya’s Soup Kitchen. Tanya is pretty much a food god here in Wichita. Her food rocks, plain & simple.
You really can’t go wrong with what you order here. The tomato bisque soup is a daily soup, but the others rotate. They do post the other soups on their Twitter & Facebook.
I love when restaurants have fun chalkboard signs with their specials too! Tanya’s Soup Kitchen has a gluten free and a vegan option too. That wasn’t something I needed, but it still gave me warm fuzzies.
Mom went with City Chicken sandwich and Chicken Tortilla soup.
The chicken tortilla soup is sooooooooooo good. Mom was in love with it. She promptly told me to find out how to make it and blog about it. 🙂
I went with the Indonesian Sweet Potato. When I saw that it was spicy, I knew it was for me! For my sandwich, I went with the Junie.
I really enjoyed the soup. The spice hits you when it goes down your throat, but in a comforting yummy way. That makes sense, right? 🙂 I did prefer Mom’s Chicken Tortilla soup over mine though.
Now my sandwich though, I could eat this sandwich every day! My sandwich was definitely better than Mom’s. I won that round! It’s fennel roasted pork, ham, Swiss, and mustard pepper relish. So good! Blogging about it is making me hungry.
After lunch, Mom and I had to run because the Wells Fargo wagon was a-comin’ down the street!!!
We went to see The Music Man put on by Music Theatre of Wichita.
The Music Man is one of my favorite musicals. And MTW’s performance did not disappoint! I loved it!!
What’s your favorite song from The Music Man?? There are so many good ones, but I’d have to go with Marian the Librarian.

I can honestly say that I could not name one song from The Music Man. Sidenote: Are you going to take out your camera every time we have a meal together in Charlotte? Just wondering. 🙂
Um YES! I did it last night with C, Scott & Sheesh. 🙂 But I don’t leave the flash on, so I’m fairly stealth.
Sarah, she busts her camera out every time WE eat here so I don’t know why she would spare you!! Trust me, it can be moderately embarrassing when you are getting wierd looks from servers. 😛
Be prepared for camera action at Old Chicago!! 😛
