I went to see the movie, Margin Call. Have you heard of Margin Call? Yeah, I hadn’t until the day before I agreed to see the movie. I only watched 1/2 of the trailer online ahead of time. What could go wrong? Kevin Spacey, Demi Moore, Simon Baker, Stanley Tucci, that guy from Heroes, that guy married to Jennifer Connelly, and that guy from Gossip Girl…..
I found it so BORING! It’s called a “financial thriller.” The most thrilling thing was when I noticed that the Gossip Girl guy’s character was wearing white socks with suit. White socks with a suit are scary!
Maybe this movie was too smart for me. It did take me about 40 minutes to figure what MBS were. They kept saying MBS all the time!!! Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh mortgage backed securities. I get it, I get it. Geez, the screenwriter could have just spelled it out a little easier! I even worked in the mortgage industry for years and I was like, HUH?!
You know what’s EASY to understand?
Fudge Crinkle Cookies!! I was emailed this recipe recently and it’s so easy!! I’ve learned to keep boxes of cake mix on hand for these quick wonders too.
Fudge Crinkle Cookies
Ingredients:
1 box Betty Crocker Super Moist Devil’s Food cake mix
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup powdered sugar
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper. Set aside. In a large bowl, mix cake mix, oil, eggs and vanilla with spoon until dough forms. Shape dough into 1 inch balls. Roll balls in powdered sugar and place balls about 2 inches apart on cookie sheets. Bake 10-12 minutes or until set. Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.

I hate boring movies but love cookies, too!
Hear hear!!
Oh, you gotta try this with lemon! Thanks for the warning on the movie.
That does sound good!! I love the lemon cake too with cake mix & pudding & lemonade powder, etc.
I’ve also heard that a spice cake mix mixed with a can of pumpkin and chocolate chips (nothing else) makes killer pumpkin cookies. I believe.
Nice! I have a recipe with spice cake mix & pumpkin for cupcakes. And I have recipe for pumpkin cookies with white chocolate chips to try too.
Fudge and cookies. I’m sold!
Oh I think I’ve seen these before and been dying to try them. Thanks for the great reminder. Yours look great!
Julie….I just love the look of fudge crinkle cookies but have yet to make them. Yours look so good. These look like they would make up for a bad movie anytime!
OK, now this pisses me off! I made crinkle cookies last year for Christmas from scratch. It was about four hours of my life I’ll never get back because apparently the recipe I had yielded enough to feed the entire army. I was putting batches in the oven for an entire afternoon! Next time I will make them your way. Fewer ingredients. Yay!
Hahaha!! I would just have stopped after awhile and chucked the rest of the batter!
I’ve never heard of Margin Cell (maybe it won’t get here until I’m in the US – apparently, not my loss…), but I did once read a book about a tax inspector – it was labelled a mystery (honest)… Broadly the same response, but I did finish reading the book (because I paid for it and all, but gosh was it dull). I do equally love easy, quick, few ingredients, yummy looking and sounding cookies. Hope you’re having a great week
Hey, maybe crinkle cookies would work this way for me. I had a fancy chocolate cookbook that looked great but was terrible in terms of directions that scared me off trying these cookies.
the crinkles make them look so professional, like the ones you see in the display windows of fancy upscale bakeries! i would love to try these- especially for my family when we’re all together for the holidays
xoxo <3
Wow, sorry the movie wasn’t what you expected. It’s too expensive to go to the movies today and be subjected to boring movies. Thanks for the heads up for the rest of us.
Now on to the cookies. I must have been living under a huge rock not to know that one could make cookies from cake mix. In my defense, I don’t generally make desserts. However, I love cookies and I especially love making them. They are not too hard to mess up (for me).
Thanks for the idea.
Alaiyo
Ha that’s one reason I made them too….couldn’t mess them up.
