I do have a complaint from my 3rd month living in Austin. No, it’s not the heat. I’m a Kansas girl, so I’m used to the heat.
It’s the dang crickets!!! No one forewarned me that crickets come out in vengeance in June! It’s been ri-di-cu-lous! Crickets everywhere! Outside….INSIDE my apartment….INSIDE at work. Supposedly, Austinites are just used to such grossness. I, however, have spent the last few weeks being creeped out and peering around corners wondering if yet another cricket will be in my bathroom. Eww!
Luckily (knock on wood), I’ve only seen about 2-3 crickets a day over the past few days. So, fingers crossed that I won’t have to battle them again for another year!

If you missed Month One and Month Two of Living in Austin, check them out!
I am so with you about the crickets! They scare me to death and so gross! They were really bad when I lived near Lake Travis. Are you making friends in Austin?
I am!! Everyone is so nice here!! 🙂
You’ve been a busy girl! I’m so happy for you, this move really seems like it was a change for the better for you. You are so outgoing, I’m impressed! Glad you’re living it up but hey, if you didn’t have those crickets, life would be perfect and then everyone would hate you. The crickets will keep you humble. lol
Hey, I should be in Wichita 7/26-8/1. Maybe we can meet up again! 🙂
It seems like just yesterday you decided to move! Now you have all of these memories! I want to visit so bad. I’ve never seen the Alamo! Love reading your posts Julie!!!!
Oh man, you should visit! We’d tear it up. 🙂
the crickets are really bad this year! i don’t remember seeing them everywhere like this, in years past. hopefully they will go away soon!
They’ve really tapered off these past few days, thank goodness!!!
Oh, I feel you about the crickets. We have an apartment in Manhattan (no crickets) but a summer house on Long Island (cricket central!) There’s nothing like stumbling into the bathroom half asleep early in the morning and having a cricket jump up at you and scare the pee out of you. Plus I always have to inspect the pup’s water dish because they keep ending up face down in there. And if one gets into the dining room, he won’t shut up the entire night!
Ew!! Luckily, I haven’t found any in my dog’s water bowl…yet.
